Update 3/14/2022: Masks are no longer required.

Our Response to COVID-19: Updated May 24, 2020

Thank you for coming to our website to book a float with us!

Over the past several months, management has discussed the risks amongst one another and with our staff, and we have come to a consensus about new protocols moving forward. Based on the recommendations of the American Massage Therapy Association and the research presented to us by the Float Tank Association Board and the expert panelists at our zoom meeting on May 20th, we are requiring all customers to wear a mask when they are in the spa (regardless of a lack of symptoms) for the duration of this pandemic. This was a difficult decision to make, and not one we made for reactionary reasons. Our team is of mixed political affiliation, and we do not presume to tell folks what we believe they should be wearing in their time outside of the center. However, after carefully measuring practicality, financial impacts, and medical risks associated with both sides of the mask question, we chose to implement this non-negotiable policy.

We do not want to lose any customers, nor do we want any of our customers to have a negative experience with us. Our whole mission is to make massage and floatation therapy affordable and accessible to the entire community.

The new policies will go into effect on Tuesday, May 26, and will remain in place for the duration of this pandemic.

Further details of the policy are outlined below:

1.    Massage customers must wear a mask from the moment they enter the spa including for the duration of the massage.

  • Face masks with an exhalation valve are not allowed. These masks only protect the person wearing them because the valve is one way.

2.    Float customers are free to remove the mask once they enter their private float suite.

3.    We will provide masks at the door for everyone who needs one for $1 each.

4.    We will be taking the temperature of every customer before they go in to their suite. We have touchless and roll-on forehead thermometers here in the spa.

5.    We strongly encourage every customer to remove their shoes and wear our sterilized spa slippers when they are in the spa.

6. Services will be provided by appointment only. There will be no walk-in float or massage.

  • Clients must wait in the car and call us when they are ready for their appointment.

  • We are practicing social distancing in our scheduling, with extra time between appointments in order to thoroughly disinfect.

7. Clients must use hand sanitizer or wash their hands upon entering the spa.

8. All float orientation and intake waivers will be completed electronically.

9. All massage clients will fill out a laminated, sterilized waiver before receiving their service.

10. Massage therapists will wear a mask and face shield (phase 1) or goggles (phase 2) for the duration of the massage.

Refund policy:

If you aren't able to wear a mask or you do not consent to having your temperature taken, then we cannot provide the service, and we will provide a full refund for any prepaid services and up to the past 3 months of float membership fees if this policy prohibits you from accessing our services. Gift cards do not expire, and any float credits purchased can be extended an additional 6 months after the pandemic has ended.

COVID-19 Update: may 13, 2020

When are we opening?
Not yet.

Why?
We're working on a plan to open safely and in compliance with the local government. We know that the state-wide stay-at-home order is no longer in effect. We know we won't open this weekend.

1. We are painting, deep cleaning, and otherwise prepping our center for a shiny and clean fresh start!
2. We are removing old decorations, updating the snacks, and putting the retail items out of high traffic areas.
3. We are working on revamping the schedule so that it will smoothly and efficiently get customers into their service rooms in a socially distant fashion.
4. We are training staff in our new, even more over-the-top cleaning protocols and PPE guidelines.
5. We are collaborating with float center and spa owners in other states to make sure that we have a solid idea of what will and what will not impact the quality and safety of your float and massage experience.
6. We don't like making promises that we cannot keep  Local officials can put their own limits in place, and rules could vary significantly from place to place, so we won't be making any drastic announcements or making bookings just yet.

Thank you to everyone who has messaged, posted, purchased gift cards and retail items on our online store, and otherwise supported us and shown us so much love during this time.

We have been open for nine years for massage and two years for float. We are so blessed to have such loyal and kind customers who have been with us for years. Thank you for your patience while we carefully and conscientiously plan for re-opening.

We can't wait to have a belated birthday month 🎂 since the pandemic cut ours short. And for everyone who got birthday emails while we were closed, Yes! You can come celebrate your birthday with us once we are open, just show us the email at checkout!

Love,
The Float Oasis team 💙

To our loyal customers,

We thank you all for your love and support over the past 2 years. We tried to keep our doors open as long as possible to serve our community but Governor Tony Evers ordered all day spas in Wisconsin to close by 5PM today. We were only given one-hour advance notice of this emergency order and had to shut down abruptly.

We will be opening when the Governor allows it and when we have determined it wouldn't pose a significant health risk to our clients.

If you have the means to do so, we would appreciate any financial support during this time. Continuing your memberships will help us remain afloat (har har) through the current crisis. For the duration of our closure, your membership price will be reduced by 50% and you will continue to receive the full benefits your membership level affords you. Additionally, you can help us by purchasing gift cards or packages through our online store, or encouraging any non-members to do the same. We have created an online store (link below) where you can buy our retail products to have them shipped to you or you can do curbside pickup. If your hands are dry from all that hand-washing, we have some excellent pain relief lotions available.

Our Response to COVID-19: Updated March 19, 2020

SHOULD I WORRY ABOUT CONTRACTING ANY VIRUSES FROM THE FLOAT WATER?

The salinity of the float water actively prohibits pathogens from existing in the float tanks. The water contains an extremely high concentration of Epsom salt; between 25-35%. High salt concentrations cause water to leave the cell which inhibits microbial growth and reproduction. UV light sterilization is further used to inhibit microbial growth. We utilize 0.5 micron carbon filters to filter the water after each float. Hydrogen peroxide is automatically added to the float tank after every float as a disinfectant.

We use Simple Green DPRO-5 and Clorox Healthcare cleaner as our disinfectant throughout our entire facility including the float tanks, walls, bathrooms, door handles, vanity room, and lounge. Every client must also sign a waiver indicating that he/she does not have any fever or flu-like symptoms or has knowingly been in contact with anyone who contracted the virus. However, recent studies conducted by the CDC and NIH have shown that the virus is stable for several hours to days in aerosols and on surfaces. It is entirely possible that the virus could be active on the sides of the float pools. Please understand the risks before deciding to float. You can read more information about the study below.
